The URC is pleased to welcome its new Executive Director, Rev. Dr. William J. Wassner. Bill Wassner joined the United Religious Community as Executive Director on May 1, 2008. He has been a member of the United Religious Community Board of Directors since 2002, having most recently served as Board President. From 1996-2001, Bill was Senior Minister at First Christian Church (DOC) in South Bend, Indiana. In 2001 Bill became the Minister of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in South Bend. He is also a volunteer Chaplain for the Indiana State Police (District #21 Toll Road Post). He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Bremen Manor Retirement Community, as well as the St. Joseph County Mental Health Association, and was a founding member of the Madison Faith and Mental Health Council Board. Bill received his B.A. in Religion and Psychological Studies from Texas Christian University in 1981, and his A.M.R.S. Religion Studies, and D.Min. Religion and Psychological Studies from the University of Chicago Divinity School. In 1990, Bill received his S.T.M. Preaching from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis and his M.S. Human Services and Counseling from Capella University in 2007.
